pool2lake event recommendations
Here are just a few events which Pool2lake swimmers have recommended from the 2019 open water season. There are loads more. The Outdoor Swimmer has lots of recommendations on their website.
Henley Mile
12 July 2020
The Henley is a super event for everyone!!! Fabulous for first timers, experienced swimmers, children and spectators. 2020 we will show everyone what pool2lake are all about.
The Big Welsh Swim
11 July 2020
1.5km, 3km, 6km and 9 km. Beautiful Lyn Padarn with the Snowdon mountain range. The cool thing about this swim is you climb onto train to get to the start line.
Gaeleforce Killary Fjord
26 September 2020
Beautiful setting with mountains and Irish waters. A fishing trawler takes you out to the start. Water temperature can be cold, so you must be acclimatized to swimming in 13 degree water temperature.
Coniston Lake District
5 September 2020
Well organized, friendly. Swimming in the Lake District allows you to go explore other beautiful lakes.
Burgh island
2020 date not available.
TrygFonden Copenhagen Swim
29 August 2020
Swim around Christiansborg.
Distances 2km
River Adur River swim
6 September 2020
4 mile tidal swim in Rural Sussex
The Serpentine
19 September 2020
Distances: 750m, 1 mile or 2 mile
London classic medal.
Disability swimmers are catered for. Very inspirational watching.
I would recommend entering the earlier waves like 8.30am or 9.00am as it is a big event. Some swimmers thought the waves were too full.
Active Training World – Triathlon at Boxend
26 July 2020 7.30am
Boxend Mass Start series
Dates to be confirmed
Boxend
Dart 10km
5 and 6 September 2020
Swim the Lakes
Various options but they are all good.
I did 8 lakes in two days.
