Service Description

Swimrun is an endurance sport, which originated in Sweden and the aim is to swim and then run across a set course. The events are exciting but demanding. Having multiple transitions between land and water you need to practice. You get to explore stunning environments and swim in amazing bodies of water. An adventure is not far away. Starting any new sport, you don’t have to rush out and buy every piece of swimrun kit. You can wear a proper swimrun wetsuit, otherwise use your old wetsuit and adjust by cutting the legs and the sleeves. I would definitely wait to cut the arms off to make sure you’re not cold. Use old trainers. Kit List • Wetsuit, does not have to be swimrun specific • Tow float, most races its compulsory. The Swim Secure doughnut, normal tow float or the adventure dry bag are the best. If unsure, please do ask me for advice. • Swim trunks / costume. Men the jammer style trunks are best. • Goggles and bright coloured swim cap • Off road trainers. Lightweight and well-draining. • Warm clothes for afterwards • Waterproof whistle • Flask of a hot drink • Pull buoy Optional hand paddles Swim ability. You must be able to swim 400m front crawl and have had an open water introduction session. Unless you are an experienced open water swimmer you won’t need the intro session. Just ask and I will guide you. What’s covered • Looking at your open water technique, making sure you can sight (swim straight), and you adjust your breathing especially in cold waters. • Understand all the equipment. Have a go at swimming with trainers on and then running in a wetsuit. It could take some getting used to. • Using the hand paddles and a pull buoy could make you feel like you are swimming with an equipment overload. • Practicing the transitions from water to land and tips to make your swimrun experience a good one. You should be able to swim 400m of open water and run about 2km. This is not a competitive environment, it’s a place to come learn and have fun. Swim stroke? You can swim front crawl or breaststroke. If you do plan on using hand paddles, you should have started in the winter months building up your shoulder strength. Cancellation Policy

Booking Terms and Conditions 1. Our open water classes & getaways all require some flexibility due to weather, so we might have to make changes. We will ensure the changes have minimal impact and we will inform you as soon as possible. 2. Any cancellations of pre-booked swim sessions must be via email at least 24 hours in advance of the session start time. Where possible we will transfer the session to a different slot. 3. For any pre-booked swim session that you fail to attend, you will be charged the full session amount. 4. We regret if there is insufficient demand for the trip / course or the minimum number is not met we have the right to cancel it. If we do have to cancel, we will tell you as soon as possible and you will receive a full refund. 5. If any pool, open water or swimrun classes have to be cancelled due to COVID you will receive a full refund or the fee will be transferred to another date.
